Embark on a journey into the vibrant world of floral art! This core introductory course is designed for beginners and serves as your first step toward becoming an AIFD® Certified Floral Designer. From the elements and principles of design to hands-on technical practice, you will gradually master the essential skills to design and complete floral arrangements, fully preparing you for your career as a floral designer.

Course contents:

The course is divided into Level I and Level II，Allowing students to build a solid technical foundation and master aesthetic principles through a step-by-step approach.

Level I (6 classes, 15 hours in total)

• Elements and Principles of Design | Table centerpiece

• Spiral technique and contrast | Hand-tied bouquet

• Proportion and application | Vase design

• Wiring technique | Boutonniere and corsage

• Color theory | Garden style flower basket

• Visual and physical balance | Bridal bouquet

Level II (8 classes, 20 hours in total)

• Forms | Parallel design

• Armature application | Bouquet with armature

• Wiring and gluing technique | Floral jewellery

• Foliage weaving | Arrangement

• Space and line | Linear design arrangement

• Caring and application | Vegetative design

• Forms and structure | Crescent arrangement

• Balance and lines | Horizonal design

Course Features:

• American Institute of Floral Designer (AIFD®) is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to establishing, maintaining and recognizing the highest standard of professional floral design.

• This course is based on The AlFD Guide to Floral Design and designed adhering to the CFD® learning objectives so that students benefit from learning the accurate and up to date floral design principles and knowledge from AIFD®.

• Balancing Theory and Practice - Introducing design elements and aesthetic principles from a beginner's level, building a solid foundation in floral design for every student.

• Design projects combine lifestyle aesthetics with commercial value, enable students to apply what they learn in real-world settings.

• Introducing the essential procedures for the care and handling of cut flowers and foliages such as storage and flower conditioning.

• Each session shall last for approximately 2.5 hours.

• All materials are included. We will also provide you with the essential tools.

• Location - We are located at Flat C, 10/F, Golden Plaza, Prince Edward, Hong Kong (MTR Exit C1, 2 minutes walk)

• Arrival - The studio opens 15 minutes prior to each session for you to settle in.

• Equipment - Essential equipment and tools is provided.

• Language - Our lessons are delivered predominately in Cantonese. However we are happy to assist you in English and Mandarin. Feel free to let us know if you wish to arrange a class in English and Mandarin.

• Photography and video - Please feel free to take your own photos. Video recording is prohibited.

• Our tutors - Our lessons are conducted by AIFD, CFD and DFA certified professional tutors.
